The Incredible Benefits Of Apricot Oil

This baby will forever be in my rotation. And it has been for over 5 years now. I firmly believe that APRICOT OIL is one of the best-kept secrets on the beauty market. And NO this shiz is NOT sponsored. Even if it was who cares?! This is good info! But it’s not. I am VERY passionate about apricot oil when it comes to skincare. Like I feel sheer excitement every time another Violet tells me how much they love this oil too.

It just works WELL for so many people!

I’ve done a TON of research on apricot oil. (Do I even need to preface that anymore? I feel like you guys know I get my kicks from research.)

My goal is to age gracefully. I don’t fear aging and I view growing older as FUN and a gift but I’ve always liked to keep it vibrant. My preference is for more organic, plant-based products (like apricot oil)- but I do use labby products too (here and there) if they are holy grail status. (Like retinoids.) But MAN OH MAN is apricot oil effective. It’s inexpensive too, mine is less than $15 for 4oz. Holla! Lasts a long time too. ~2/3 months depending on how much you use. I value it like I value rosehip seed oil. And I often rotate the two in place of one another.

Apricot Oil (Prunus armeniaca to be exact– and yes you should look at scientific names. You want the studied, most proven of the variations out there. Make sure you’re not getting scammed, Ya feel me?) Apricot oil is a DIAMOND of a product.

It’s light. It absorbs pretty quick. It’s non-comedogenic for most people so it’s highly unlikely it will break you out. (Although we have adjustments for all new skin products sometimes) and I have had so many Violets tell me it works fabulously on their skin too. It’s highly agreeable with different kinds of skin. Just pure nourishment for your skin.

This oil is pressed from an apricot kernel or pit.

Primary Benefits of Apricot Oil

Science seems to agree that it’s main punch is how SOOTHING it is. Think, making tired skin look perked up. Red skin will be toned down. Face just feeling “fresh” afterwards. That’s what it does for ya. Even Paula’s Choice (which I don’t always agree with) backs apricot oil here and here. You know she has some strict opinions!

Apricot oil is loaded with three things that I VERY MUCH care about when it comes to anti-aging and keeping plump skin: Fatty acids, Vitamin A, and Vitamin E.

Additional Benefits of Apricot Oil

It’s so great for taking off makeup.

And it’s like a one-two-three punch product.

1- Takes off your makeup.

2- Nourishes while doing it as opposed to stripping away natural oils.

3- Keeps you moisturized after.

HOW TO APRICOT OIL

I literally will rub it (gently) all over my face for maybe 20 seconds, and then an additional 20 seconds around my eyes (even MORE gently), Then I’ll either splash my face with water and blot dry with a towel OR I’ll just wipe the remains off with a clean soft cloth. Sometimes I’ve even just tissue it off dry if I didn’t have super heavy eye makeup on.

Often, I prefer “cleaning” my face with oil because I feel it really does get rid of the layer of product on your face- while at the same time not stripping your natural oils, like a lot of cleaners will do. The more moisturized you keep your skin… the less wrinkles. Just saying. Wrinkles aren’t bad and they’re inevitable but we can slow them down if we want to.

AFTER THAT I will apply another layer of apricot oil somewhere in my skincare routine. And sleep in that. But honestly, apricot oil alone is so effective. I go back and forth between apricot oil and Rosehip oil. Which makes sense, they are both in the rose family and do similar things for the skin.

Apricot oil WILL help with anti-aging (this- proven by science) because it is so high in antioxidants and it’s also anti-inflammatory. Remember, inflammation = aging! We should always be trying to calm inflammation! Read this study here– it’s so interesting!

To get the best benefits from apricot oil, seek out the following:

1- Find a brand that is certified organic.

2- A product under the name Prunus Armeniaca. And nothing else in it. No fillers. SINGLE INGREDIENT. Or at least towards the very top of ingredients and only if the other ingredients are good too! I keep it simple and stay single ingredient.

3- Comes in a package where little to no sunlight gets in (like a dark or non see-through bottle) and also makes sure little oxygen gets to it when you open it.

The brand I use (religiously- and again not sponsored) is Better Shea Butter. I love this company. The price is unbeatable and they completely meet my criteria and I love the results I’ve had: which is refreshed and “happier” skin whenever I use it.

The benefits of Apricot Oil speaks for itself: APRICOT OIL IS THE SHIT. You don’t need to spend a ton of money to have insanely effective skincare! Comment with any additional questions ladies, this stuff is the BEST.
