My 2023 Wellness Travel Hacks

Traveling is cool and all but we KNOW it can take a toll on the body. The name of the game is RESILIENCY and doing whatever you can to arrive to your destination (and back home) actually feeling GOOD and not like shit.

Most of these tips you can apply easily. Some might take some dolla dollas to partake in.

But these are my hacks! It’s okay if you can’t do it all— but if you can do majority, you’ll be more golden than if not!

2023 TRAVEL HACKS

  1. Legs up the wall sometime before your flight (like within hours of your flight.) Circulation can take a hit when you are in the air -or even on a long car ride- so get your booty down on the ground and PUT YOUR LEGS UP THE WALL for 5-7ish minutes. So much bang for your buck with this. Not only helps with circulation but also low back relief AND calming for the nervous system which we all need when traveling no? Do it!

  2. No sugar before your flight. I’m serious. Sugar basically can put your immune system into paralysis for HOURS after consuming. Some functional medicine doctors have told me for up to six hours after! HELL NO. You need your immune system functioning at full throttle during travel. It’s so easy to get sick on a plane. I don’t care if it’s your tradition to get a special starbucks drink or candy at the airport before a flight lol. No more k?! You can come up with other traditions! And no sodas on the flight. Protect yoself woman!

  3. NO SHALLOW BREATHING. This indicates panic to your immune system. Don’t rush. Don’t worry- trust yourself that you are prepared and everything is going to run smoothly. Like sugar, worry and panic can do a number on your immune system. That’s the last thing you need plus it steals away joy. Type A people- I am looking at you! Flip the script, from here on out you are the calm one when traveling. :)

  4. Pretox your liver by giving it some nourishment before and after your flight. You are about to be exposed to some shit. That’s going to make it tougher on your liver. Do a nicey for it! I load up on LIVER LOVE before and after a flight. (Code VIOLETFOG) I want my liver to efficent in filtering out the things I don’t want in my body- like people’s fragrances, cleaning chemicals, old dirty air. (BTW that Liver Love supplement comes with 120 capsules! A lot. It’s also great for hangovers.)

  5. Bring lots of protein and FATTY snacks with you. It is easy to find carby snacks at the airport, it is tougher to find protein and fat! What I recommend is bringing some nut butter (can buy an apple or celery and slather it is) and grass fed beef jerky like CHOMPS brand. I will straight up pack a small jar of nut butter to have my whole trip and put it on fruit I buy! Sometimes I’ll even bring a cucumber and sprinkle salt and pepper packs on each bite haha. I just don’t want to mess up my immune system with sugary things while traveling.

  6. Take FISH OIL before traveling. I heard this one from a vein specialist. Helps prevent blood clots, helps with circulation a bit and also helps to bring down some inflammation.

  7. Try to be makeup free. Best to go with a clean face >> apply serum >> apply something super occlusive. As occlusive as you can given your skin type. I love a straight-up balm! (PS Evan Healy makes a fantastic balm. Code VIOLETFOG10) You want to trap as much moisture as you can. Also, don’t be afraid to rock a sheet mask on the plane. ;)

  8. Do a MAJOR STRETCH session before you travel. I am talking like 20 min of stretching day of travel. Please, this is so important. Don’t let your body get too achy. It could mess up your trip and also make your flight/car ride way more uncomfortable. Prepare!

  9. Try to not be on screens TOO much during the flight to preserve your eyes. The air is already so dry and that paired with less blinking (you blink WAY less when looking at a screen) can really dry your eyes out. Read a book, sleep, journal, knit something, Idk! Screens are fine but don’t overdo it on flights.

  10. Take a sleep supplement if you are doing a red eye. Just sleep man. Help your circadian rhythm with this monster of a flight. I love BEAM DREAM (Code VIOLETFOG) Nice to also get some CBD in there which I love during flights— it’s in the supp I recommended. If you think you can’t sleep on a flight but haven’t tried a sleep supp- try it. And stop convincing yourself you can’t sleep on planes- the body believes the mind! Start telling yourself you can.

  11. Practice facial reflexology on the flight. I love to do this for a few reasons. I feel like it does help give my organs a gentle “nudge” to keep doing their thang during the flight (like you can stimulate points for digestions for example- just google this.) Another reason is it can be so so so calming, which is great for the immune system. Use your hands or something like my favorite little $10 tool. That tool feels like a million bucks on your face btw.

  12. MOVE AROUND. When you are awake on the flight, try to get up as often as possible for healthier circulation. Keep that blood moving! I often fake going to the bathroom and just go back and stretch or I simply have no shame and will just stand up in the aisle (even for 20 seconds) and just stretch a bit. Small thing to do… makes a big difference.

  13. Compression socks! Look into whether compression socks could be beneficial for you if you swell a lot! Just don’t get TOO tight, which can be more harmful than helpful.

  14. MUSHROOMS! Weeks before and esecially day of I will load up on chaga and reishi. HIGHLY BENEFICIAL.

  15. ELDERBERRY. Great for acute situations!! Dan and I take a big swig of this EXACT elderberry syrup day of (Code VIOLETFOG for a discount.) You want at least a gram which this serving has even more of! Most elderberry syrups are garbage. Take one that works for extra protection.

  16. Tell yourself you are going to be fine!! Seriously no matter what you are exposed to whatever happens, it happened! Now believe your strong body can handle it. The body listens to the mind, empower it!

Let me know if you have any clutch wellness travel tips!! P.S If you are going to a new country highly recommend bringing some digestive enzymes. Trust me… my constipation story from Costa Rica is one for another day. But it’s real.
