Wellness facts to keep in your back pocket

If there is one thing you're going to find on my phone, it's notes and notes and NOTES full of random wellness facts/opinions I have come across over the years.
I work with health professionals in my daily life + I am simply driven to understand more so I am always writing down things I am learning... in hopes that I can synthesize the information in a girl-talky way and get to share it with y'all!!
As always though- do your own research!
Here some fun ones as of late:
1. Everyone is starting to promote NAD supplements for cellular aging and detox, ATP production (aka energy boosting), and overall mitochondrial health. I LOVE that we are talking about that.
However- NAD supplements suck when it comes to bioavailability. It's a quick way to have expensive pee. Nurse Doza always mentions this-- that he is almost shocked when he sees people in the wellness world promoting NAD supplements. When you look at the mechanism of action and how NAD works- you will quickly realize that the BEST way to get more NAD/NAD+ into the body is through IV, an injection, and even NAD transdermal patches are showing a lot of promise. Spend your money wisely. ;)
2. The least invasive way to test for mold toxicity is considerably the most effective as well.
Many functional medicine practitioners know a good deal about mold, but they aren't actually specialists in the area. Nearly every functional medicine doctor I've talked to recommended a blood test for testing for mold toxicity. This does give us some great data. But it's also extremely expensive (I was quoted anywhere from $700-$2000 depending on the doctor and how they wanted to test) and... it's bloodwork. Not fun.
I've since heard from a few mold toxicity SPECIALISTS (one of which is Dr. Torrie Thompson here in Austin) and they say that actually, the BEST way to test for mold toxicity is through urine. A simple urine test! And it is WAY less expensive. You can often order the test, do the test, and have a full on appointment done for less than $650. And you don't need to do bloodwork!
Something to consider.
3. If you don't eat meat, and you rely on grains and plants for your iron. Make sure you are getting plenty of Vitamin C alongside otherwise it's not super bioavailable. Just an easy adjustment but very important to consider.
