Facts about autoimmune people that rock

Things I wish autoimmune people believed about themselves.
I want you to hear this. There is “language of the sick” and “language of the healthy.”
I want you to use language of the healthy. 1. Because I wan’t you to get healthier and 2. I want you to thrive emotionally.
When I run by these things about Autoimmune people… things we should know and believe about ourselves.. ask yourself: Is this really a stretch? Or is it totally the truth and we just allowed our minds to skip over it?
Know the truth!
First. You’re actually cooler NOW. Post diagnosis.
Because now we are forced to be ~chiller~
If we’re not… and we express ourselves as high-stress, we get sicker or can’t heal.
So we strive to be more calm and laid back. A lot of people enjoy that new version of us.
Second. We learn so much about health we become an amazing resource for our friends and family.
You genuinely can’t tell me you don’t know more about health and the human body now that you have an autoimmune condition. That’s valuable knowledge to share!!
Third. Our mind body connection becomes to strong. Perhaps before we were a bit disconnected. Now we ~listen~… we have beautiful relationships with our bodies. A lot of people don’t have that.
NOT saying we weren’t pissed at our bodies for awhile when we first got sick. Once we accepted it and learned the tango with our autoimmune condition, it’s THEN that our mind body connection builds and we become our own internal cheerleader and nurturer.
Fourth. Actually a lot of us become way healthier because we are autoimmune. Like yes we have our condition and that sucks but other parts of us come alive and start working better because we are cooking more, caring for ourselves… there’s perks.
Fifth. We become so mentally strong. We realize how resilient we are. We go through some thiiiick mud only to come out still living our lives! We’ve proven a lot to ourselves and that develops mental toughness.
Sixth. We are hyper aware that everyone is suffering from something and doesn’t always show it. Autoimmune conditions don’t *always* show outwardly. Sometimes they do. But often it’s hidden. And there were times we suffered so hard and no one knew. We have more of a softness toward people now.
Seventh. We learn faster than many others that the free things move the needle the most. Getting air, sunshine. Choosing whole foods. Really trying for good sleep. We are harder to swindle with “magic bullets” and “fast tracks.” Maybe in the beginning when we were desperate we were more easily swayed. Now we know that while gadgets and therapies can be nice, we hold the power in our own hands and thoughts. Idk I guess we’ve become smarter consumers ;)
Rooting for the autoimmune cuties!! Y’all are so awesome and capable and energetic and fun lives. Believe it.
